Spam Postings

Happy New Year Everyone

I'm sorry that we are having a problem with the spam especially bad today.  Unfortunately I am unable to delete it right now but admin is working on the problem.  Please be aware that those spams have been reported and we are aware of them.  Don't give them anymore viewings and hopefully we will have the problem fixed soon.

Thanks

Re: Spam Postings

I would like to thank you all again for your patience in dealing with the spam that comes to the boards everyday.  My understanding is that as soon as the new CD is released, then the website will be updated and a new, more secure forum put in place.  Until that time we will continue to deal with the unwanted posts as we have been.  I can assure you that both Crunkette and myself work hard everyday to make this as spam free as possible.  We do not wait for a report to be made, but rather check several times per day and clean up as needed.

I know that some of you may be getting irritated with some of the more inappropriate spam.  I don't blame you.  However - you don't need to post in the suggestions everyday.  Believe me - we are aware of what is happening.

If you can see that the post is porn and you are unable to handle it, then don't go in it.  Someone else will report it or we will delete it on our frequent pass bys.  If there is more than one spam, you don't need to report all of them.  When we are on the site we clean up all unwanted posts and bann all spam memberships.

Thanks for your understanding and assistance.

Re: Spam Postings

I'd also like to request that threads not get pointlessly "bumped", as posts all over the forum with the word "bump" and nothing adding to the thread itself are actually becoming spam themselves. If a particularly nasty thread appears at the top and you do wish to bury it with a real thread, please try to add to the conversation in the thread you're going to push up, if you can. Or maybe start a new thread with a new topic of discussion if you can't add anything to an existing thread. I completely understand the desire to hide the top thread if the top thread is nasty so that newbies don't see that first, but filling the forum with blank, useless posts to hide them doesn't help the forum look good either, and gives us mods even more to delete when we get here to check on the situation.

Suggestion: Would anyone be interested in creating some threads that can be updated daily and therefore pushed up often? A picture of the day thread, a song of the day, quote, video, etc? Maybe the currently active members could vote on selections, or everyone simply posts their own and reminisces? There's much more productive ways to hide the spam thread without resorting to spam as well. Wink
